7 wounded, 2 fatally, in separate shootings

At least seven people were wounded including two men who were killed, in separate shootings overnight, officials said.



The first shooting happened about 9:25 p.m. on the 5600 block of South Marshfield Avenue in the West Englewood neighborhood, police said.



Preliminary reports stated a 48-year-old woman was standing outside when she heard shots and felt pain to her arm. She was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, police said.



The next shooting happened about 10:45 p.m. on the 1200 block of West 72nd Street in the Englewood neighborhood, said Police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.



Preliminary reports stated a 31 -year-old man was walking outside when someone approached and fired shots, striking him in the abdomen before he later succumbed to his injuries, officials said.



Killed was Elroy Williams who was shot doors from his home. Williams was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn but was pronounced dead this morning at 5:20 a.m., officials said.



Fifteen minutes later in the Bridgeport neighborhood, a 20-year-old man was shot during an argument.



That shooting occurred on the 600 block of West 25th Place. Preliminary reports said the man was walking with a group of friends when he started arguing with someone and was shot.



The man was taken in stable condition to Stroger Hospital.



Thirty minutes later in the Washington Park neighborhood, another man was shot several times in a possible drive-by, police said.



That shooting happened on the 5600 block of King Drive. Preliminary reports stated the victim, 19, was standing outside when he heard shots and felt pain.



He was taken in stable condition to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to his ankle, wrist and buttocks, police said.



Ten minutes later in the West Woodlawn neighborhood, a 32-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, police said.



That shooting happened on the 6000 block of South Champlain Avenue. The man was outside when he heard shots and felt pain. He was also taken to Stroger Hospital where he was reported as in good condition.



1 killed, 1 wounded near Graceland Cemetery on North Side

Two people were shot, one fatally, this evening near the Graceland Cemetery in the North Side Sheridan Park neighborhood, police said.



The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Montrose and Racine avenues, police said citing early reports.



One victim, believed to be a man, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and one of his ribs, while the second victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head, said Officer Daryl Baety, a police spokesman.



One victim was pronounced dead, police said. The second victim was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition, according to a fire department spokesman. The spokesman said fire officials responded to Sunnyside Avenue rather than Montrose.



Police had no additional details on the shooting, as detectives were still gathering details.



Chicago Cops: Woman, 47, shot in shoulder in Austin neighborhood

A woman was shot and wounded tonight in the city's Austin neighborhood on the West Side, authorities said.



Police said the woman, 47, was shot in the right shoulder just after 8:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Massasoit Avenue, said Chicago police.



The woman was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood in stable condition. The woman was talking with police at the scene and her injuries weren't believed to be serious.



Police hadn't made any arrests in the shooting. Police couldn't immediately say whether the wounded woman was the intended target.
