

A 32-year-old man was shot and killed in a flurry of gunshots early this morning on a West Side sidewalk, police said.
The man, who has not yet been officially identified, was in the 5400 block of West Division Street in the North Austin neighborhood about 1:45 a.m. this morning when another male approached on foot and began shooting, according to a news release from Chicago Police Department News Affairs.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the neck, head and back and was pronounced dead after being transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.
No other information was available. No one is in custody as the police investigation continues.

A man was fatally wounded and another injured in a stabbing this morning in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on the city's North Side, officials said.
Shortly before 1 a.m., the two were stabbed during a fight on the sidewalk with several other people in the 1100 block of West Wrightwood Avenue, police said in a news release.
A man, described as being in his 20s, was wounded in the chest and abdomen and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. He has not yet been officially identified.
A second victim, 18, was stabbed in his buttocks. He was listed in good condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.
No other information about the incident was available.
As of 2;45 a.m., no one was in custody for the stabbings. Belmont Area detectives were investigating.

A 3-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his mother injured in an apparent domestic incident with the boy's father on the West Side, police said.
The incident happened at about 11:15 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Division Street, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan, citing preliminary information.
The boy has been pronounced dead and his mother was taken to a local hospital, police said. The man who stabbed them is believed to be the boy's father and may have jumped from a second-story window to elude officers.
Police have him in custody, Sullivan said.
The boy was identified as Jaivon Sandifer, 3, of the 5000 block of West Division Street, who was pronounced at 12:18 p.m. at Stroger Hospital of Cook County, according to the medical examiner's office.
Neighbors identified the boy as Jaivon Jefferson, and his mother as Margaret Jefferson. Police could not immediately confirm the neighbors' information.
The mother was still hospitalized tonight, according to police.

A 32-year-old South Side woman died early this morning after she was stabbed Thursday night on the West Side in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.
Ragan McDougle of the 5100 block of South Dorchester Avenue was pronounced dead shortly before 6 a.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
About 8:40 p.m. Thursday on the 2800 block of West Roosevelt Road, McDougle was involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical, according to preliminary information from police.
An unknown suspect stabbed McDougle and fled the scene, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
McDougle was taken to the hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, he said.
As of 8:35 p.m. tonight, the suspect was still at large.
Harrison Area detectives were investigating.

A 23-year-old man was found shot in the head this afternoon inside of a vehicle in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, and he later died, officials said.
Shortly after 2 p.m., officers responded to the 8800 block of South Beverly Avenue where a man was found shot in the head inside of a vehicle, said Police News Affairs Sgt. Antoinette Ursitti.
The man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to fire Media Affairs.
The man, identified as Michael Jones, 23, of Lynwood, was prounced dead later, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately available, Ursitti said. Another News Affairs officer said later that the death was being investigated as a homicide, but no other details were available.
Calumet Area detectives were investigating.
