Why is it that if there was a scholarship or tuition program for STRAIGHT STUDENTS, they would be sued for discriminating against the gays... But there can be scholarships and tuition programs for gay only students?
Elmhurst College is the first college in the country to directly ask students about their sexual orientation.
The Sun-Times reports the application for students starting next year includes the question, "Would you consider yourself to be a member of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered community?"
School officials say it helps them direct students toward services or groups that could help in the college transition. There are many grants and scholarships for gay and lesbian students.
Elmhurst College is affiliated with the United Church of Christ, which historically has favored liberal views on social issues.
