A woman from Lemont was charged with a felony count of making a false bomb threat at the Willis Tower after she apparently joked that a companion had an explosive device, Chicago police said today.
The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday as Julija Petraityte, 19, was standing in a security line with a friend at the noted skyscraper, which sits at Adams and Franklin streets, police said.
A security guard asked Petraityte’s friend if she had taken all the items out of her pockets, and Petraityte said to the guard that her friend had a bomb.
The guard warned her that the threat wasn’t funny, to which Petraityte responded again that her friend had a bomb. Petraityte was arrested, police said.
There was no actual bomb, police said
