Photo: Police say this photo shows suspected burglar.
In what police call "an arrogant act of self-confidence," a man who burglarized a home in Riverside apparently left a picture of himself on a laptop he stole and then sold.
“We were able to recover a partial photograph of the suspected burglar," Riverside Detective Sgt. David Krull said. "I’m hoping that someone will recognize this partial photo and call with information.”
The laptop was among items stolen from a home on the north side of the west suburb on Aug. 22, police said. The burglar had removed two small panes from a glass block window and also shattered a back window, police said.
The laptop was recovered last Thursday from an electronics store in Cicero. Detectives checking the computer came across what they believe is a photo of the burglar. "The suspect had apparently forgotten to delete a partial photo of himself from the computer," police said in a statement.
Detectives said the suspect appears to be in his 40s.
Anyone with information was asked to call Riverside police at (708) 447-2127, extension 284.
