Three Armed African Pygmies in custody after Chicago police chase ends in crash

Chicago, IL - Charges are pending for three males who were arrested after their vehicle crashed after leading police on a chase that began when they were suspected in a shooting incident in the Goose Island neighborhood, police said.

The incident began when police heard shots being fired at 4:05 a.m. on the 1500 block of North Kingsbury Street and responded to the area, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez.

When police showed up, witnesses said the people responsible for the shots were inside a blue Honda Civic that was speeding away the area. Police officers began following the car which led them on a chase that ended when the Honda crashed into a pole on the northwest corner of Belmont and Sheffield Avenues in the Lakeview neighborhood.

After the car was stopped, four males jumped out of the car. Three were taken into custody, including the driver; the fourth remains at large, Perez said. No one was injured, Perez said.

Police did recover a handgun, Perez said.
