A 19-year-old Addison man was discovered fatally shot inside a vehicle in the city's West Town neighborhood, police said.
Officers were called to the area of Erie Street and Ashland Avenue at about 2 a.m. for a call of shots fired, said police, citing preliminary reports.
Police found a man, later identified as Curtis Canino, of the 400 block of Stevens Drive in Addison, inside a parked vehicle in the 600 block of North Ashland, with a gunshot wound to the head, said Officer Amina Greer, a police spokeswoman.
He was pronounced dead at 3:10 a.m. at the Stein Institute, she said.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting weren't immediately clear, but no arrests had been made.

A bicycle-riding gunman shot and wounded three teenagers Wednesday night in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.
The three victims were standing on the street in the 6800 block of South Bishop Street just before 9:30 p.m. when the shooter rode by and opened fire, striking all three, police said. The gunman fled north.
A 15-year-old boy, who was wounded in the chest and cheek, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said. A 17-year-old boy, shot in the back, was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
The third victim, 18, who was shot in the wrist, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition. A police spokeswoman didn't have conditions for the three males.

A man has died following a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood this morning, authorities said.
The man was shot multiple times in an attack in the 1700 block of East 72nd Street about 9:39 a.m., said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. He was declared dead about noon, authorities said.
The man was identified this evening as Jermaine Smith, 18, who lived on the block.
Smith was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A Steger man was found dead this afternoon with a plastic bag over his head inside of a garbage can in the south suburb, officials said.
Brian Hofer, 51, of the 400 block of East Park Avenue was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The spokesman said the man was found dead inside of a garbage can on the 0-99 block of East 231st Street in Steger.
There was no immediate information available from the Steger Police Department about Hofer's death.
The cause of death was pending an autopsy scheduled for Thursday.

The Dolton Police Department is releasing few details about a homicide investigation, but relatives said a 26-year-old Chicago man was killed early today in a home in the south suburb.
Authorities would only confirm the investigation of a homicide that occurred in a private residence in the 14900 block of South Michigan Avenue.
Police would not release any details about the shooting this afternoon, except that only one person died.
Police learned about the shooting from neighbors who called about the gunshots, authorities said.
Police were called to the home about 3 a.m., said village spokeswoman TaQuoya Kennedy. Inside the home they found an unidentified man, Kennedy said.
Dolton Mayor Ronnie Lewis said he had heard about the shooting, but he couldn’t offer any details. He did not know if anyone had been taken into custody, he said.
“I have no idea,” he said. “You need to call someone else. I was just informed maybe a little while ago.”
Dolton police would not identify the victim, but relatives said the slaying victim was Jerome Nichols, 26, of Chicago.
Latoya White, Nichols’ sister-in-law, said the family learned about the shooting this morning and went directly to the house. They have been standing outside for hours waiting for answers, she said.
“The police are not telling us nothing,” she said. “(Jerome) was a very kind-hearted person and he loved his nieces and nephews. He was trying to turn his life around for the better. He was a good person.”
Nichols lives on the South Side but was visiting a friend in Dolton last night, White said.
Donna Nichols-Gooden also confirmed the deceased is her nephew Jerome Nichols. But because police have not given the family any information, she said she doesn’t know what happened.
On Wednesday afternoon, Nichols-Gooden said the body was still in the house and had not been removed by the Cook County medical examiner's office.
