The next night, Obama is astir again, and sees the ghost of Thomas Jefferson moving through the darkened bedroom....

O'bummer calls out, "Uh, Tom... please! What is the best thing

"Respect the Constitution, like I did," Jefferson advises as he slowly dims from sight...

Barack still isn't sleeping well the 3rd night when he sees yet another figure moving in the shadows, and low and behold, there stands the spirit of his avowed hero, Abraham Lincoln...

Obama pleads: "President Lincoln, what is the best thing I can do right now... to help the country?"

Full-Court-Press Russians Slapping Obama Around Like a Rag Doll...

Anyone naively hoping for Obama's failed Russia policy to work out might be forgiven- I too thought we could forge a far more constructive relationship with them back in the early 90's...
then again in the wake of 9/11, considering the common enemies that emerged. But years after those harsh lessons in Russian intransigence and strategic opportunism, you'd think the current administration might have known a little better than to just waltz into the Kremlin and try to lay some hopenchange on 'em... and with no 'Plan B' in sight.

Wishful thinking aside, if Russia isn't a full-blown enemy of the United States today, they do about the best imitation of one I've ever seen. Accomplished Machiavellian snake Vladimir Putin recently violated the spirit -if not letter- of a UN arms embargo they were party to by selling advanced anti-aircraft missile systems to Tehran through straw-purchaser Venezuela in a deal that includes the construction of Iranian-operated missile sites on the northern coast of South America (!). 

Yet regardless of Obama's ongoing attempts to make nice with the Russians -selling out allies like Poland and the Czech Republic in the process- the Kremlin has continued to put itself on the opposite side of almost any issue/rivalry/conflict that could possibly provide advantage- be it military, diplomatic, or economic.

Now Georgia has produced unsettling evidence of a Russian intelligence agent's involvement in a series of Georgian bombings, including the Sept. 2010 blast next to the US Embassy in Tbilisi- a direct attack on American territory/property, and just three months prior to US Senate ratification of an arms treaty meant to be a cornerstone of Obama's Pollyanna 'Reset Button' strategy.

Then there's this gem: although the United States has actually purchased dozens of Russian helicopters for fledgling Iraqi and Afghan forces over the last few years, that wasn't good enough for greedy thugs in the Kremlin- they smelled weakness, and that's all it takes usually...

A Pentagon program to rush 21 helicopters to Afghan military forces in time for this summer’s fighting season was derailed by the Obama administration’s conciliatory policy toward Russia and by Army procurement missteps amid allegations of corruption, according to current and former defense officials and military contractors.

Four Russian-made Mi-17 dual-use civilian-military helicopters were sent to Afghanistan in September 2009 under a competitively bid Navy contract that delivered the aircraft in a record 45 days.

But eight other helicopters that were painted in Afghan National ArmyAir Corps colors are now sitting in a warehouse in Slovakia because their delivery was blocked last November by the Russian government. The reason: Moscow demanded the Pentagon use the state arms trader Rosoboronexport as the sole-source contractor for the helicopters.

The contract change boosted costs by tens of millions of dollars and delayed further deliveries until later this year, at the earliest, according to officials involved in the procurement.

“Gaining political points with the Russians trumped meeting military requirements, and as a result we have a one-year delay in getting aircraft into Afghanistan,” said John J. Young, former undersecretary of defense for acquisition under former President George W. Bush...

The government-owned company they insisted we use -Rosoboronexport- tacked "at least" $4M to each of the $15M helicopters (x21), and Obama quickly caved- what does he care, it's only taxpayer money.

Seems the Russian mafia has had some serious influence on Kremlin business practices, if it's not them running all this in the first place. And just look at all the neat stuff the nice people at Rosoboronexport sold Hugo Chavez, on parade  -here-

Figuring-out the Russians is not difficult: (1) for the foreseeable future they find more advantage in being an opponent of the United States than in aligning  themselves with us,  (2) they always push and push for more until you stop them- which the current occupant of the White House seems both unwilling and unable to do anything about.  

Understand too that the Russians have no real reason to be nice, and really don't want to be your friend. They tend to see kindness as weakness and are already getting all they ever dreamed of by treating us with ceaseless contempt... so why change now? 

Expect the worst until we get a real leader in this country- 

going to be a long 18 months in the meantime.

Ruinously Incompetent Obama Regime is Black America's Worst Enemy

Seems like the flexible Chicago Machine template for exploiting the minority vote -where Obama/Jarrett/Rezko profited from government projects while South Side blacks they promised new apartments got crumbling, unsafe slums instead- was (predictably) scaled-up to the national level for Obamanomics: over-promise, under-deliver, and take real good care of all your fellow racketeers in the process...

Now that the False Messiah has blown trillion$ of the next two generation's money on would-be economic stimuli, myriad bailouts, and other misguided largesse, again crony-capitalist backers like GE and Jeffrey Immelt are doing just great while impressionable plebes of all sorts who pinned their future on hopenchange find themselves facing-down almost 10% unemployment while hanging by a thread economically.

Indeed, Obama has almost succeeded in transforming a large section of the US middle class into entitlement-addicted serfs with no home equity and little optimism... just the way he likes 'em. But it's American blacks who have really been taking the brunt of it, and it appears that for the first time in his cosseted, auto-pilot political career, Barack Obama might be held responsible for actual results... and they are crap. 

Millions hoodwinked by the MSM in 2008 are also experiencing the dawning realization that George W Bush was not the cause of the mortgage crisis, as federally-mandated lending to unqualified individuals based upon social/racial criteria was clearly what set the trap that devoured so much of American blacks' wealth... this a creation of fiscally reckless congressional Democrats like Barney Frank and Chris Dodd

And as we all decried unemployment edging-up "unexpectedly" to 9.2% nationally for July, consider that black unemployment is at a ghastly 16.2% (!)  Add in those who've given up looking for work and we are talking more like 25+% black unemployed in the US today. But it can always get worse... Detroit admits to having over 30% of blacks seeking a job, plus the quitters and it's over 50%...

By 2009, the median net worth for white households had fallen 24 percent to $97,860; the median net worth for black households had fallen 83 percent to $2,170, according to the institute.

Austin described the wealth gap this way: “In 2009, for every dollar of wealth the average white household had, black households only had two cents.”

Austin thinks more black people than ever before could fall out of the middle class because the unemployment rate for college-educated blacks recently peaked and blacks are overrepresented in state and local government jobs. Those are jobs that are being eliminated because of massive budget shortfalls.

Since the end of the recession, which lasted from 2007 to 2009, the overall unemployment rate has fallen from 9.4 to 9.1 percent, while the black unemployment rate has risen from 14.7 to 16.2 percent, according to the Department of Labor. Last April, black male unemployment hit the highest rate since the government began keeping track in 1972. Only 56.9 percent of black men over 20 were working, compared with 68.1 percent of white men.

Even college-educated blacks fared worse than their white counterparts in the recession. In 2007, unemployment for college-educated whites was 1.8 percent; for college-educated blacks it was 2.7 percent. Now, the college-educated unemployment rate is 3.9 percent for whites and 7 percent for blacks.

Nearly 8 percent of African Americans who bought homes from 2005 to 2008 have lost them to foreclosure, compared with 4.5 percent of whites, according to an estimate by the Center for Responsible Lending.

Some see a bitter irony in soaring black unemployment and the decline of the black middle class on the watch of the first black president...

Beside feeling that irony, hopefully many of the 95+% of black folks who voted for Obama will also come to realize that if you blindly back a politician based on his skin color without any real due diligence or balanced consideration of alternatives, all you do is set yourself up to be used: they tell you what you want to hear and you're putty in their hands... and don't expect any gratitude from these populist con-artists, either.

The sad truth is that Barack Obama has heavily damaged black America in three ways: he's taken away much of their hard-won financial independence.... he's poisoned race relations with a totally unneeded, outdated, and vengeful victimhood narrative... and he's crushed the hopes and dreams of millions of African Americans by exposing himself -America's First Black President- as an embittered incompetent that's simply in way, way over his head.

This is the third week now Rasmussen finds Obama in negative territory vs. a 'generic' GOPer... clearly the OBL bump is gone. And do you know why theirs are the only polls I would ever take at face value...?

First, Rasmussen's well-documented and widely-acclaimed accuracy emanates from polling only likely voters... not just "adults" like others. Simply quizzing any grown-ups Gallup can reach on the phone who are willing to talk to them means many of the fine citizens they manage to scrape-up have never voted (nor worked) a day in their lives... thus, predictably warping poll results to the left of where the actual voters' heads are at.

And you'd never see the kind of skewed samples from Rasmussen that others employ, either... another stunt we've seen with increasing frequency in recent MSM efforts to prop-up the floundering Obammunist regime.

Then consider the superior methodology employed in the production of Rasmussen's popular Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: not only does Rasmussen again interview only likely voters, the DTTP index counts hard sentiment, bypassing those who just flipped a coin-- by subtracting "strongly dissapprove" of Obama from "strongly approve": the number deduced today a pitiful -17%.

Contrast that with left-leaning Gallup's polling of "national adults" and simply "approve" vs "dissapprove"... producing the far more palatable 47/47, in other words zero differential vs. Rasmussen's reality-based -17.... you tell me which seems closer to the sentiment out there on the ground, all I can say is that I don't know a single soul who's happy with this Twilight Zone episode of a presidency.

Of course, Rasmussen's insightful and accurate polling isn't of much use to many that don't want to hear the grim truth sometimes... thus leaving a large market opening for those willing to serve the unprincipled agenda of the Left.

Unlikely Chrysler Comeback Made Possible ONLY by Completely Ignoring Dear Leader's On-the-Spot Guidance

FIAT has been making a lot of positive news over the last week, first by paying off (by refinancing) all $5.9B of the US/Canadian auto bail-out loans to the US/CN Treasuries (six years early), then three days later announcing the acquisition of the entire US Government stake. This provides FIAT-and-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne with complete control of Chrysler, thus ridding himself and his companies of the Obama Administration's unhelpful influence...

Obviously Obama could use anything that resembles an economic success story right about now, so he's been quick to build a Detroit "comeback" theme into the latest campaign spiel. But how ironic that while the President is busy co-opting others' success at Chrysler, Marchionne is rushing to distance the company from a foolhardy White House and (unpopular) bail-out's stigma. Although foreign owned, the new Chrysler is planning a IPO for 2012, and is now free -as Ford has been- to pursue market-based success as best they know how.

Not hard to see why FIAT/Chrysler would want nothing to do with sinking ship Obama/bailouts as far as marketing images go. But Sergio Marchionne is used to operating his company with one hand while dealing with meddlesome liberal politicians on the other, thus he managed the opportunity very well and had little problem putting Obama in the trick-bag two years ago while quietly doing what it took to actually make the acquisition work.

More impressive on-the-spot guidance

Back in 2009 when FIAT was the only viable savior of Chrysler, Obama was more focused on brazen opportunism, punishing Republicans, stealing things for the UAW, and driving a goofy green agenda than creating any viable business plan for Chrysler. Dear Leader insisted that FIAT bring a 40mpg minicar to US shores (they did, the FIAT 500, alas made in Mexico), electric cars, and such.

But Marchionne had to make it work on the bottom line, not just Cloud Nine: he let Obama have his victory/photo ops there, and most of that product was in the FIAT development pipeline anyway. The electric FIAT 500 goes on-sale in the US for 2012, and the regular 500 has already hit the new FIAT dealerships. The meeting of such performance objectives brought FIAT a progressively larger stake of Chrysler, in part leading to the pending takeover by the Italian company.

Not one to let a good crisis go to waste, Obama fully exploited the opportunity in 2009 to screw creditors out of their money (at the gain of the union) and more than a few Republicans out of their Chrysler dealerships. He then pushed the FIAT/Chrysler to drop large gas guzzlers and focus on economy cars, electrics, hybrids, unicorn-rainbow power, etc. But on the issue of culling eight and six-cylinder cars/trucks from the lineup, Marchionne stood firm... leading to today's healthy and profitable Chrysler. 

How funny-strange it is then that Italian-Canadian Sergio Marchionne understands us -and what we like- better than our own president! He also knows that real American cars/trucks that people might actually want to buy -like the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango, and Ram Pickup- make twice the profit per unit as any FIAT 500s or Puntos re-engineered for the US market ever will... there's simply too much pressure on margins at the entry-level from the South Koreans and others. 

No telling where it may strike!

In stark contrast to the expressed (and rebutted) Team Obama desires, Chrysler is not only doing extremely well with SUVs and trucks now, the future still includes a new Viper, more large Cummins diesels for pickups, even a new 6.4L Hemi V-8 bringing 450hp! Chrysler's Detroit Grand Cherokee plant is running at (3 shifts) full capacity, Toledo is expanding, and there are plans to export American-made SUV's to Europe, rebranded as FIATs and Alfa-Romeos... that means American jobs that wouldn't be there if they'd listened to Obama.

Over at Government Motors, the market has greeted the President's pet project -the Chevrolet Volt- with a collective yawn... they're selling less than 250/mo. Now Chevy dealers have  been caught registering the cars and taking the $7500 Obama tax credit for themselves, while unloading the now "used" Volt on used car lots. When questioned, one of the dealers explained this was to due with "high demand"- a dubious claim.

Following in the footsteps of capitalist genius Henry Ford, the last All-American car company -FoMoCo- has maximized it's freedom from government interference, even turning a profit at the bottom of the Great Recession. Ford CEO Alan Mulally possessed the luck/foresight to sell off underperforming brands and reduce debt prior to the crash, and when they saw the degree of control Obama was looking for in the bailout days, Ford said "pass" and found their own way in the capital markets.

Free-market Ford is now kicking butt, and they continue to take market share from GM... they're easily the healthiest of the Big Three on paper, and the product is just fantastic.

So as long as Barack Obama is trying bask in the glow of any Detroit renaissance, we need to hold his feet to the fire on the habitual dishonesty, mistakes, losses, cronyism, and corruption it took for him to get there, as well as the fact that the White House's harebrained product ideas had nothing to do with Chrysler's early return to profitability... rather, they had to resist and work around them.

Poll: 'NO Bin Laden Bounce' for Obama

While some libs waxed delirious over the political value of yesterday's big news with "just cancel the (2012) election now", a 10%+ poll bounce, etc., it did bear the unmistakable stench of wishful groupthink...

Political analyst Alastair Newton in London was one of the few contrarians out there, noting that not only did the market rally have no legs, the unpopular, far-Left domestic agenda dragging down Obama's approval rating for months won't be forgotten anytime soon... 

“The immediate reaction in the US notwithstanding, 'normal business' will soon be resumed in US politics.

There will be no change on the fiscal/debt polarization and contrary to some commentators' reaction, definitely no election boost for Obama,” said Newton in an interview with CNBC on Tuesday.

With little or no operational control over al-Qaeda in recent years, Newton believes Osama’s death will have little impact on the terror group’s ability to mount attacks.

“Bin Laden’s role as head of al-Qaeda seems to have been largely symbolic for some years now, he was not responsible for operational planning and decision-making,” he added.

Alas, today's Rasmussen poll shows not even that expected immediate bounce, as the Bolshevik Boy Wonder's Presidential Approval Index (strongly approve minus strongly dissapprove) is still languishing at a sub-mediocre -10%

Contrasted with a number of -12% yesterday, (a change well within the margin for error)... I guess that astroturf flash-mob of 20-somethings they had in front of the White House didn't fool anybody.
