Cardinal Watercolor Painting I am working on - Still has a long ways to go :)

This painting still has a lot of work to be done, the background and the bird need a lot of refining still., I am also working on some acrylics too. I will post a picture of my landscape that I am working on a bit later. hope everyone is having a great weekend.

My Latest Painting I am Working on a Chickadee in Acrylic - Finished

I finished this little guy as much as I can for now. I did not get the background the way I wanted but I think practice will solve that problem. This is not a good picture, I varnished it and then realized I should have taken a picture of it first. :(

My Latest Painting I am Working on a Chickadee in Acrylic - Update 2

I am now trying to work on the other chickadee, he was in bad shape lol, as I work along on him I think there might be hope. We will see there is still a long ways to go.

2nd Chickadee Painting in Acrylic - Finished..I think LOL

I am calling this one done for now ( I will look at it for awhile and see) I am ready to move on. The picture is not that good , I will try to get a better one tomorrow in the daylight. It was a good learning experience, there are parts I really like and other parts not so much, I might decide to change them later on. My other chickadee I am working on is in desperate need of help lol so I will see if I can salvage him if not I will move on. Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

2nd Chickadee that I am Working on in Acrylic - Update 3

I am still working on the chickadees I will post the other one when I make some progress. I still have a ways to go on this one. The background still needs to be softened more and the chickadee needs more form.

2nd Chickadee that I am Working on in Acrylic - Update 2

I worked a little more on my 2nd chickadee, lightened the background and made it softer and I am starting to block in the chickadee. Still a long ways to go. I am just closing my eyes and crossing my fingers lol.
Have a great night!

2nd Chickadee that I am Working on in Acrylic - Update 1

As you can see I have worked on the background and started blocking in the darks and shadows for the bird. I still want to have the background soft and faded, I am planning on layering some transparent glazed over top to knock it back some and fade out the branches. Wish me luck :) Hope everyone has a wonderful and creative weekend!

My Latest Painting I am Working on a Chickadee in Acrylic - Update 1

Here is an update on the first chickadee I am working on. I glazed over the background some and started working on the bird. This has along ways to go yet, we will see if I can get the results I want with acrylic.

2nd Chickadee that I am Working on in Acrylic

Here is the other Chickadee painting in Acrylic that I am also working on right now, as you can see the conditions were not ideal to take a picture of it today. I am working on 2 so I will not get bored waiting for one to dry. I am not sure how I feel about Acrylic yet, i have to see if I can make it do what I want. maybe I will try a flower next with acrylics. I might also paint these little guys in watercolor to compare with the acrylics. Thanks for looking :)

My Latest Painting I am Working on a Chickadee in Acrylic

This picture is a little on the dark side, I am still getting the hang of photographing acrylic, watercolor on paper is so easy compared to this. I have started putting in the background I will go over it again to lighten and darken some areas. This is just a practice study, I am being brave posting my work in progress as I am still trying to get the hang of acrylics, it is not easy when you are used to doing things the opposite way. I will post more when I get some done, I am also working on another chickadee that I will post the steps for soon. Thanks

My First Solo Show Ended Today

I went to St. Andrew's today to the gallery to pick up my artwork, it was been overall a great experience having a solo show. I sold 18 paintings and also received a couple of commissions. Thank you to everyone who follows, reads and/or comments on my blog, your support is a wonderful gift that I am lucky to have. Thanks for taking the time :)
Thank you to everyone who attended my show and to everyone who purchased my art, it is greatly appreciated. It makes it all worth while when someone is touch by my art enough to purchase it, enjoy!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Goldfinch & Tulips done in Ink & Watercolor

A couple more I just finished. I am busy labeling and framing to get ready for the Church show and sale this Saturday.

Cardinals done in Pen & Ink with Watercolor

I have been working on some more pen & ink with watercolor in between paintings. I just love doing these. These one will be for sale at the St. Paul's Church Art Show and Sale April 24th. Hope everyone is having a great day!

Cardinal Watercolor Painting - Finished for the 2nd Time!

I decided not only was the picture bad (poor lighting) but the background was way too warm. I put a glaze of FUB on most of the background and a little more red on the Cardinal, I find this works much better. It is funny how if you go away from a painting and then look at it again you see something completely different. What do you think, does this background work better? thanks for looking

Watercolor Painting Goldfinch - Finished!

Just finished the Goldfinch, hopefully i will be able to start my Cardinal tonight, I have a few others to draw out also. I find I need at least 3 on the go to be productive (to much time spent waiting to dry). Hope everyone has a great night thanks for stopping by!

Watercolor Painting Work in Progress WIP - Blue Jay Finished!

Just finished my Blue Jay a few minutes ago, I ended up putting another glaze over the background.  I am still working on my Goldfinch and am starting a Cardinal and more flowers. Hope everyone has a great night, thanks for stopping in and looking!

Perched Peregrine Falcon - Commission No. 1 Watercolor Work in Progress - Finished!!

Finally finished the second commission, can't wait to send them on their way! I have not been here much as I have been going non stop, this Thanksgiving weekend will be a nice change of pace, looking forward to having my parents over for dinner and just relaxing. Of course I will paint, I have another commission of a pug on the go and some roses for my show. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, or for everyone outside of Canada I hope you have a fantastic weekend also! Take care!
