Former Top Obama Economist Fulminates Against "Shameful" WH Inaction on Jobs

"I frankly don't understand why policy makers aren't 
more worried about the suffering of real families..."

Calling the Obama Administration's flippant lack of concern for a comatose labor market they've done so much to create "shameful", former Council of Economic Advisors Chair Christina Romer -who left the Administration last fall- spoke Tuesday at Vanderbilt University: 

“I think there are tools we have tools we have that we can use, and I think it’s shameful that we’re not using them”:

...the sharpness of her criticism reflected deep concern among many Democratic economists about a political consensus that the federal government has to rein in expensive attempts to restart the economy even as rising oil prices again put a damper on growth.

“We need to realize that there is still a lot of devastation out there,” Romer said, calling the 8.9% unemployment rate "an absolute crisis."

“If I have a complaint about policy these days, it’s that we’re not doing enough," she said. "That goes all the way up to the Federal Reserve, [which] could be taking more aggressive action. It goes to the Congress and the Administration – there are fiscal policy actions they could be taking.”

“And don’t tell me you can’t [take those actions] because of the deificit because I think there are fiscally responsible ways,” she said.

Romer suggested that extending the payroll tax break to the employer side of the payroll tax could spur the economy; she suggested that Congress simultaneously pass a comprehensive, long-term plan for reducing the deficit.

And while some of the "action" Romer proposes -more spending and $ printing- is surely not the answer, anyone outside of the ether-saturated pom-pom media can see that our preening, vacationing, and ceaselessly campaigning fiasco-of-a-president isn't doing anything even slightly effective in helping millions of out-of-work Americans to pull themselves up by the bootstraps. 

Rather, Obama's got them glued hard to the government teat... as he prefers his serfs to be.

Unemployment Rate Soars to 10.2%... a 26-Year High

Unemployment continues to climb one-year after Barack Obama's victorious presidential campaign- and is promptly undermining the Dear Leader's popularity, clout, and liberal, statist agenda.

And while Team Obama's only major legislative success was the Porkulus bill- hawked as an expensive cure for unemployment- it turned-out to be nothing more than a $800B Democratic wish-list of pork-barrel spending which has had little or no effect -outside of a slew of government hires- on the employment situation in this country.

Joblessness is now the worst since 1983... and how did we get ourselves out of this mess last time? Not the way this crew's doing it...

Maybe the MSM needs to finally get off their fat asses and ask a few questions of this WH... like why they spend almost a trillion dollars of our money for nothing- except maybe a spike in the inflation rate when the economy finally picks itself up off the floor.

And while they're at it, ask Team Obama why they insist on pressing-on with failed policies on all fronts. A lot of us are starting to wonder what planet they're living on, and even who's side they're working for... sure doesn't seem to be ours.

Counting Fake Jobs Keeps Official Unemployment Below 10%

As told below by Wake Up America, the government uses a model to count unemployment that juices the numbers in favor of the administration, which thereby keeps the official jobless figure below the politically-damaging psychological barrier of 10%. In reality, the jobs situation is probably far worse. After the obvious failure of the ill-advised "stimulus" bill, this WH is desperate... and hanging by a thread politically.

MSM Unemployment Stories 13x More Negative Under Reagan than Obama

Still more proof of appalling leftist media bias in the United States- as if any were needed.

A new study from the Business and Media Institute finds 91% of news stories re. unemployment in the 1980s were negative towards Ronald Reagan... while only 7% of coverage has been negative towards the Obama Administration.

The author of this study -Julia Seymore- here contrasts ABC News veteran Charles Gibson's reporting during the Reagan era with today's reprehensible cheerleading for the Obama Administration... when they faced near-identical 9+% unemployment rates (0:57):

Meanwhile, the Dem's misguided $800B Porkulus is a train-wreck, with unemployment soaring and the Dear Leader's promises in tatters. Contrast this with Ronald Reagan's creation of 20M jobs, expanding Real GDP by 30% in the process and you'll see that the liberal press didn't know what they were talking about then... any more than they do now.
