Sneak Peak at my Show!

Here I am just after my husband and I set up the show, my hair is a mess and I am exhausted, it was quite a bit more work than i thought it would be. Thank goodness for husbands :)

It is hard to see some of these because of the reflections on the glass from the windows.

It looks much more impressive in real life, but I thought it might be nice to post these for all of my friends who are too far away to come to the show.

The show will officially open on May 21st 2010 and will hang until July 30th 2010. A reception will take place June 6th 2 -4 PM. at the Art Gallery at Kingsbrae Garden in St. Andrews NB. The garden is unbelievable, for any of you who do not live in our area and you get a chance to come this way it is a must see! click here for directions http://www.kingsbraegarden.com/

I am sad to say that one of my favourite little Pygmy goats Dusty is no longer with us :(
go to link below to see the portrait I painted of him for the show:

Purple Iris - Watercolor Painting Finished!

I am finished the purple iris. I am almost finished the black goat and I am working on another lily (surprise.. surprise!) I always seem to come back to the day lily, there are so many different varieties and each one is just as beautiful as the next. I will post a picture of the lily later today hopefully. thank you for taking the time to look and comment, I really appreciate it. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Purple Iris - Watercolor Painting I am also working on Update 1

I worked more on the shadows on the white part of the Iris and started to develop the stem and bud. I still have a long ways to go on this one. Thanks for stopping in. I hope everyone has a creative day!

WIP Orange Iris finished!

Finally done, this one took awhile. It is a German Bearded Iris called Rave On. This is from my garden, one of those flowers I could not resist buying. I have always loved buying flowers for my garden but now I buy them with painting in mind (looking beautiful in my garden is a bonus). I am almost finished my white Peony and will be posting that soon, plus still working on my fish and sticks project.

Title: Rave On
Medium: Watercolor
Size: 11x14

WIP Orange Iris Update 4

Started darkening the stems (indigo blue) and adding some color and shadow to the main petals of the Iris (Quin Red + lemon yellow) plus a little ultra blue to gray it down for the shadows.

WIP Orange Iris Update 2

Glazed stems (Lemon yellow then Ultra Blue)
Glazed Back ground (Ultra Blue + Quin red, then Indigo Blue)
Update on Rosie the spaniel coming soon!

Finished: Iris from My Garden

Finished the Iris i was working on, now i have to start a few new ones. I might do some still life or maybe some more dogs. I will have to go through my reference photos as i won't be able to get outside for inspiration ( next 4 days it will rain ) .
This Iris is one from my garden, can't wait until my lilies bloom.
I just bought a beautiful orange/yellow iris the other day at the garden shop, now it just needs to bloom.
